Hang Up Call

Hang Up Call is a tool for the Voice Agent: it ends the call politely when the conversation is over. It connects to the Tools connector of the Voice Agent, or of a sub-agent, and the agent decides when to use it, usually when the caller says goodbye or their request is solved.

The caller hears the farewell and then the line closes. The reason is kept in the history. Without this tool, the agent cannot hang up on its own.

When to use it

  • Closing the call when the caller says they need nothing else.
  • Ending with a fixed farewell sentence that is part of your brand.
  • Knowing later, in the history, why each call ended.

Configuration

In fields that support tool mode, tool mode decides who writes the value: on, the AI writes it on each call; off, the fixed text you type here is used. Both fields support tool mode.

FieldWhat it does
FarewellWhat the caller hears before the line closes, word for word and in the language they are speaking. Fixed, or in tool mode written by the agent on each call.
ReasonWhy the call is ending. The agent writes it and it is kept in the call history.

Output

The Hangup output is the tool. Connect it to the Tools connector of the Voice Agent or of a sub-agent.

Example

A hair salon wants its agent to hang up after confirming the appointment.

  1. Add a Hang Up Call and connect it to the Tools of the Voice Agent.
  2. Type “Thanks for calling the salon. See you soon” in Farewell with tool mode off, and leave Reason in tool mode.
  3. In the System Prompt write: “When the customer confirms the appointment and needs nothing else, hang up”.
  4. Test in the playground by saying “that’s all, thanks”.

Good practices

  • Say in the prompt when to hang up; otherwise the agent may say goodbye without closing the line.
  • Review the reasons in the history: they help improve the prompt.
  • Calls that end on silence or at the maximum duration are configured on the Voice Agent itself, with Ask Before Hanging Up, Farewell After Inactivity and Farewell At Maximum Duration.
