Update Page Property

Update Page Property changes the properties of an existing Notion page: mark a task as done, change a date, update an amount… Only the properties you specify change; the rest of the page stays the same.

When to use it

  • When a process finishes, you want to mark the matching task as “Done” in Notion.
  • A customer confirms an order and you want to change its status in the orders database.
  • You want to record on the page the date a ticket was answered.

Configuration

You need a Notion API credential with your Notion integration’s token. See Credentials.

FieldWhat it does
Credential (required)The Notion API credential used to access your Notion workspace.
Page IDThe ID of the page to update.
PropertiesThe properties that change and their new value, written in Notion’s format.

An example that changes the Status select to “Done”:

{"Status": {"select": {"name": "Done"}}}

Output

The Data output returns the updated page as Notion stores it, with all its properties. If the properties are badly written or Notion rejects the change, the flow does not stop: the output carries a message that explains why.

Example

A support team wants to close in Notion the tickets that have already been answered.

  1. The flow sends the reply to the customer and has the ID of the ticket’s page.
  2. Add Update Page Property and connect that ID to Page ID.
  3. In Properties write {"Status": {"select": {"name": "Closed"}}}.

Good practices

  • Check with List Database Properties the exact name and type of each property before writing the change.
  • If you do not have the page’s ID, find it with List Pages or Search.
  • Check the output: if it carries an error message, the page has not changed.
