Notion MCP
Notion MCP connects your flow to Notion’s official MCP server. It gives you the tools that server publishes to work with pages, databases, blocks and more in your Notion workspace.
You pick a tool in the Tool field and can use it in two ways: as a step in the flow, filling in its data yourself, or as a tool for an agent, which decides when to use it.
When to use it
- You want an agent to look up information in the internal documentation your company keeps in Notion.
- You need to create or update Notion pages from what happens in a flow, such as minutes or a report.
- Your team wants an assistant that queries its Notion databases.
Configuration
You need a Notion MCP credential, with which you sign in to your Notion account and authorise access. See Credentials.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Credential (required) | Your Notion MCP credential. When you pick it, NappAI connects to the server and loads its tools into Tool. |
| Tool (required) | The Notion server tool you want to use. The list comes from the server itself. When you pick one, the data that tool needs appears below. |
When the component is used as an agent tool, the agent can fill in that data for you. More on this in Tools.
Output
- Data: the text returned by the chosen tool.
- Tool: the tool ready for an agent. Connect it to the agent’s Tools input.
Example
A consultancy keeps its internal procedures in Notion and wants employees to be able to ask about them in a chat.
- Add Notion MCP and pick the credential for the company’s Notion account.
- In Tool, pick the search tool.
- Connect the Tool output to the agent’s Tools input.
- An employee asks “How do I request holidays?” and the agent searches Notion and answers with the procedure.
Good practices
- When authorising access, share with the integration only the pages the flow needs.
- If you want the agent to use several Notion tools, add one component per tool.
- If the Tool list is empty, check the credential: NappAI could not connect to the server.
