TOON to Data

TOON to Data reads text in TOON format and turns it into NappAI data, so the following components can use each field separately. TOON is a compact text format designed for exchanging structured data with AI models.

It is the reverse step of Data to TOON.

When to use it

  • Recover as data the answer of an agent you asked to reply in TOON.
  • Read back data you stored earlier as TOON text.
  • Test a flow with sample data you type by hand in TOON.

Configuration

TOON Data (required with Data Entry)The data containing the TOON text. The component takes it from its toon field or, if there is none, from its text field. You can connect several.
TOON Text (required with Manual Entry)The TOON text you type. Keep line breaks and indentation, because they are part of the format.

Output

The Data output returns one record for each TOON text, with one field per value. Values that contain only a number come out as numbers, and true and false as yes/no values. Texts that carry an identifier rather than a quantity, such as "08001", "+34600123456" or "3.10", stay as text so no digit is lost.

The text must describe a set of named fields. If it describes something else, such as a bare list, the component reports an error.

Example

You ask an agent to classify a customer email and to reply in TOON with the fields category, urgency and summary. TOON to Data turns its answer into data, and the flow sends the case to the team named in category.
