Storage Folders
Storage Folders organises the folders in your NappAI storage: it lists the folders inside a folder, creates new ones, renames, moves, copies or deletes them, or creates a link to download a whole folder as a ZIP.
It acts on the storage of the person who runs the flow, the same one you see on the Storage page, so it needs no credential.
When to use it
- A flow has to prepare a folder per client or per month before saving files in it.
- You want to archive the working folder at the end of each month by moving it into another one.
- You need to send someone all the documents of a project in a single ZIP.
- You want to clean up temporary folders a flow no longer needs.
How it works
- Paths. A path that names no section, such as
clients/acme, is inside the Files section (thefilesfolder): it is the same asfiles/clients/acme. If you leave the folder empty, the Files section itself is used. Full paths into other sections also work, such aspycode_data/sales, which is what the picker returns. See Files. - What a flow can change. A flow can read your whole storage, but it can only change the Files section, each flow’s file folders and the Python Code volumes. Vector databases, SQLite databases, trained models and skills are read-only to a flow: you can copy them to another section, but not change, move or delete them. The top folder of each section cannot be moved or deleted either.
Configuration
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Operation (required) | What the component does. See Operations. Defaults to List Folders. |
| Selection Mode | How you point to folders: By Selector (you pick them in your storage) or By Path (you type their path). Defaults to By Selector. |
| Folder / Folder Path | The folder you work with, for example reports/2026. In Create Folder, the folder the new one goes in. Empty means the Files section. |
| Folder Name | In Create Folder, the name of the new folder; it can have several levels, for example 2026/october. In Rename Folder, the new name (required). In Move Folder and Copy Folder, an optional new name; empty keeps it. |
| Destination Folder / Destination Path | The folder the folder goes into, for example archive. In Move Folder and Copy Folder. |
| Include Subfolders | Also lists the folders inside each folder. Off by default. Only in List Folders. |
| Max Results | The most folders to list, between 1 and 1000. Defaults to 100. Only in List Folders. |
| Delete Its Contents | Deletes the folder even if it has files. When off, only an empty folder is deleted. Only in Delete Folder. |
| Link Valid For (Hours) | How many hours the link works, between 1 and 168 (one week). Defaults to 24. Only in Create Download Link. |
With By Selector you see the Folder and Destination Folder fields; with By Path, Folder Path and Destination Path.
Operations
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
List Folders | Lists the folders inside a folder, with their name, path, size, number of files and modification date. |
Create Folder | Creates a folder, and any missing folder above it. If it already exists, it does nothing and returns it. |
Rename Folder | Changes a folder’s name without moving it. |
Move Folder | Moves a folder, with everything in it, into another one. |
Copy Folder | Copies a folder, with everything in it, into another one. |
Delete Folder | Deletes a folder. If it has files, only with Delete Its Contents on. |
Create Download Link | Creates a link to download the whole folder as a ZIP, which expires after Link Valid For (Hours). |
If something with the same name is already at the destination, Move Folder and Copy Folder stop with an error instead of merging folders.
Output
The Data output returns one item per folder, with its name (name), its path (path), its total size in bytes (size), its number of files (files) and its modification date (modified).
Create Foldersays increatedwhether the folder was created or already existed.Move FolderandCopy Folderalso give the source path insource.Delete Folderreturns the name and path of the deleted folder.Create Download Linkreturns the link (url), the ZIP name and the date it expires (expires_at).
The component can also be connected to an Agent as a tool. See Tool Mode. In that case the path fields (Folder Path and Destination Path) are always used, and the agent writes them.
Example
An architecture studio gives each client all of their documents when a project closes.
- A closing form delivers the project name.
- Add Storage Folders with the
Create Download Linkoperation. - In Selection Mode choose
By Pathand typeprojects/followed by the project name in Folder Path. - Set Link Valid For (Hours) to
72, so the client has three days. - Connect the Data output to an email component that sends the link (
url) to the client.
Tips
- With Batch Mode the component works through a whole list: for example, create one folder per row of a spreadsheet with Folder Name Mapped to the client’s name. See Batch Mode.
- Leave Delete Its Contents off unless you really want to delete everything: that way a wrong path never deletes a full folder.
- For single files use Storage Files: this component only works with folders.
Security
- Only your storage. The component works with the storage of whoever runs the flow and cannot leave it, with the same rules as the Storage page.
- What other components use is protected. Neither a flow nor an agent can change or delete vector databases, SQLite databases, trained models or skills.
- Links that expire. Anyone holding a
Create Download Linklink can download that folder, and only that folder, until it expires. Send it only to whoever should get it.
Related components
- Storage Files: list, read, save, move and share the files in your storage.
- Storage Search: find files by name, type, date or size.
- OneDrive Folders and Drive Folder Manager: the same with folders in OneDrive and Google Drive.
